Two landing pages (turned) existing <demand> into page-one rankings

Chilly's was already competing for high-value water bottle searches, but had no pages built for them. We found the demand in Metis and built two. Both now hold multiple page-one rankings, with significant growth in clicks and click-through rate.

(The opportunity)

Already ranking, never on the same page twice

Chilly's already ranked for "1 litre water bottle", "1L water bottle", "metal water bottle" and "stainless steel water bottle". The problem was consistency. Google was not ranking the same page for the same search. Different bottle pages surfaced for different queries, so the landing page was never stable and the relevance was spread across the site rather than consolidated.

Rather than create demand from scratch, the opportunity was to make better use of the visibility Chilly's already had: give customers and Google one clear destination for each of these searches.

What the data showed

Metis showed demand growing around two themes. Size, with "1 litre water bottle" and "1L water bottle". And material, with "metal water bottle" and "stainless steel water bottle". Demand was rising, but the site architecture did not reflect it. There was no single page built to match either intent.

(The approach)

One page per intent

We built two dedicated landing pages: 1 Litre Water Bottles for size, and Stainless Steel Water Bottles for material. Each had optimised metadata, a clear heading structure, supporting copy, a product selection matched to the intent, and internal links from the key bottle pages.

That gave customers searching by size a page designed around size, and customers searching by material a page about stainless steel. It also consolidated the material-led searches, which had been ranking broader category pages, around one relevant destination, with far more control over how the range was presented.

The takeaway

Many brands already rank for valuable terms without a page built for that intent. When that happens Google ranks the closest match it can find, which means volatility, mixed signals, lower click-through and missed growth. For Chilly's the demand was already there, often on page two. Two focused pages turned it into page-one visibility, higher click-through rates and significant click growth.
